SMFA Concerto Competition
The Saskatchewan Music Festival Association, in co-operation with the Regina and Saskatoon Symphony Orchestras, is pleased to announce the continuation of the SMFA Concerto Competition. Originally an annual event, the competition is now held every two years, alternating between Saskatoon and Regina. The next competition will be held February, 2013 (Regina). The first place winner receives a $2,000 scholarship and will appear as a guest artist with the Regina Symphony Orchestra and the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra. Second and third place scholarships of $750 and $500 are also awarded.

Wallis Opera Competition
The competition is held in even-numbered years and alternates between Regina and Saskatoon. In addition to the $5,000 first prize money, the winner may be featured as guest artist with the Regina and Saskatoon Symphony Orchestras. The 2012 Gordon Wallis Opera Competition will be held February 25 & 26, 2012  at the U of S (Saskatoon).  Please refer to the Opera Competition Information & Entry Form for more information

District Festival Competitions
District Festival Competitions are held annually in forty-nine locations throughout the province, beginning in March and ending in May.  Scholarships and awards are available locally at each district festival. Please refer to the Festival Date Listing and  Festival Dates and Contacts for additional information. Provincial Finals/Provincial Level of National Competition
The competition is an annual event during which the district winners compete provincially for scholarships, awards and the honour of representing Saskatchewan at the national level. The provincial final competitions are held in June of each year. Please refer to the SMFA Syllabus and SMFA Directory for Scholarship and General Regulations.

National Competition
The Federation of Canadian Music Festivals (FCMF) is responsible for the organization of the annual National Music Festival, which is held in a different location in Canada every year.  This festival of classical music brings together the best students from every province, to perform in the top venues in the country, to interact and hear and learn from each other, to have workshop sessions with Canada's best adjudicators, and to compete for the top prizes in Canada.  Please refer to the the FCMF website for details such as National Syllabus and Rules & Regulations.
